Sick?

When your child is sick, you worry. Do you think God worries when we are sick, physically or spiritually? I do. When a child is sick, the parent does what they can to help them. Mom prays, gives the medicine that is prescribed, and gets advice from the doctor. Dad usually does the running to get the medicine at the pharmacy, and does what is asked of them.

If it is a spiritual sickness, what does a parent do? Hopefully they can pray, read the Bible and seek the advice of their Elders. God has given us all great people in our lives to help us through the turbulent times. He has also given us the Bible, which is the greatest help to Christians. You can read it and understand it if you want. It is full of wonderful stories of people who went through similar things that we go through. But you have to be willing to read it.

Sickness of any kind is hard for us to deal with. We don't like seeing suffering. We want everyone to be upbeat and happy. When someone we love is heartsick, down-trodden, or soul-sick, we ache for them. We want to take that burden away. But only time and God can really do that for them.

James 5:13 - 16 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

I pray that if you feel sick any way, you will pray about it, ask for help and lean on your family and friends. It helps to have others praying for you and for God to know you know that you can not heal yourself.
