Psalm 102

There are aspects of Psalm 102 that caught my attention this morning.

First is this verse.

6 I am like a desert owl,
like an owl among the ruins.
7 I lie awake; I have become
like a bird alone on a roof.

Desert owls have uncommon hearing and amazing vision in low-light, like dusk.  They are birds of prey and take over nests that have already been made.  They are more nocturnal too.  This seems to be the feeling of the author of this psalm.  They are alone, probably hiding out.

The author starts praising God and then says in verse eighteen,

18 Let this be written for a future generation,
that a people not yet created may praise the LORD:

They wanted to make sure that we knew about God!  This wasn't written down and hidden.  This was written down and stated that future generations can praise God too!  That's what our aim is.  To praise God, bring the gospel to others and in God's purpose.
