December 3, 2010

Happy Birthday to my mom!  She is a wonderful Christian woman who keeps us all on the straight and narrow!  Thanks Mom, I love you!

Last year, I was searching for a new song to sing.  I went in to the Family Christian Book Store and saw that this group I had not really followed, but heard a few of their songs, had their Christmas CD Peace on Earth for like five dollars or something ridiculous.  So I bought it.  I am so glad I did.  The music is really good.  They do their own versions of several songs with a couple of original pieces.  This one that I like the most is called God Is With Us.   I love how this song is from the perspective of someone that maybe isn't apart of the story.  I bet there were rumors flying about the baby born that night and adding to the circus is the shepherds who rushed to find the Christ child after the angel told them to.  What must those townspeople thought of those smelly, uneducated herdsmen, who spoke of angels, and the words that were told to them?

Maybe someone really listened.  Maybe someone talked further with the shepherds and understood that this was the Son of God.  Someone needed something to believe in that night.  Looking at the shepherds, how their story seemed to match up with that of Mary and Joseph's, the innkeeper, how can we not believe and put our faith in God?  He was the Savior that they had been waiting for.  Thank goodness we don't have to wait!  He is here now with us and we just have to believe and obey him!  During this season of believing, feel Jesus in your heart.  Feel him at your side, surrounding you with peace, hope and love.

God Is With Us

The sky don't seem to be as dark as usual
The stars seem brighter than they've been before
Deep within I feel my soul a stirring
As though my hope has been restored.

The shepherds say they heard the voice of angels
Confirming rumors spread across the land
That a child protected well from Herod's anger
Is our Father's Son, and the Son of Man.

Love is raining down on the world tonight
There's a presence here, I can tell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
He's a Savior we've been waiting for
In our humble hearts He will dwell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel.

I feel compelled to tell all who will listen
That peace on earth is not so out of reach
If we can find grace and mercy and forgiveness
He has come to save, He is all of these.

Love is raining down on the world tonight
There's a presence here, I can tell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
He's a Savior we've been waiting for
In our humble hearts He will dwell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel.

Love is raining down on the world tonight
There's a presence here, I can tell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel
He's a Savior we've been waiting for
In our humble hearts He will dwell
God is in us, God is for us, God is with us, Emmanuel.

You're the Savior we've been praying for
In our humble hearts You will dwell
You are in us, You are for us, Your are with us, Emmanuel.
