Luke 2:16-20
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
During this time of year, everyone is hurrying. We are hurrying to finish our shopping, baking, wrapping. Kids are wishing that time would hurry up and Christmas Day would get here. When the shepherds heard that Jesus was in Bethlehem, they hurried to see Him. When was the last time you hurried to go to church, not because you were late, but because you were anxious to meet God there?
Sometimes when we hurry, we miss things. Are you missing Christmas this year? Have you missed the message of the child in the manager or the love of this time of year? Take some time to sit and relax. Watch a Christmas show with your children. Take some time and look at the Christmas lights. Don't let Christmas pass you by.
Where Are You Christmas?
Songwriters: Mariah Carey, James Horner, Will Jennings
Where are you Christmas? Why can't I find you?
Why have you gone away?
Where is the laughter you used to bring me?
Why can't I hear music play?
My world is changing
I'm rearranging
Does that mean Christmas changes too?
Where are you Christmas? Do you remember
The one you used to know?
I'm not the same one, see what the time's done
Is that why you have let me go?
Christmas is here
Everywhere, oh
Christmas is here
If you care, oh
If there is love in your heart and your mind
You will feel like Christmas all the time
I feel you, Christmas, I know I've found you
You never fade away
The joy of Christmas stays here in silence
Fills each and every heart with love
Where are you Christmas?
Fills your heart with love
its so hard to find that quiet time during the holidays, but time with God is never wasted!
