Dear Lord,
Today I come to you Lord with a heavy heart. Many people I know are grieving over the loss of a loved one. I pray for each of them that they may find comfort in knowing you and that your will has been done. Each of these people lived good, fulfilled lives and are now abiding with you. Please help their families cope and do all they can for each other.
I also pray for those individuals that are sick and for their families. May your healing hand be upon them and that you will help the physicians and nurses watching over the sick to be able to comfort them and help them with the healing process. May all of them heal quickly and completely.

Luke 6: 17 - 19
17He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coast of Tyre and Sidon, 18who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by evil spirits were cured, 19and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.

My friend
Acts 3:1 - 10
1One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
Adele is one of my longest-running friends. I know that the doctors and nurses are going to do everything they can for her, but we all need to pray for her. She is divorced now and lost her mother last year. Her dad is close by, and she has two teenage children who are going to help her. She says her church family is going to bring in meals too. Thank goodness for them.
Like the passage above, through the doctors, they will do everything God wants done for Adele. Hopefully it will be enough to heal her. She is in God's hands, now. Praise you, Lord!

6Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." 7Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Today, my heart is heavy. I have a very good friend who is undergoing surgery. I only heard about this last night. She has cancer. They think it has been caught very early, which is wonderful. She seemed upbeat, but I can only imagine what she is really feeling. Adele and I go back to my days as a kid at church camp. Her family was the caretakers and she and I were in the same room. Her first name is Cheryl too. We went to camp together whenever we could, celebrated birthdays and graduations, were in each other's wedding, have supported each other when our children were born and just kept in touch.Adele is one of my longest-running friends. I am healed! Thank you, Jesus!
Luke 17: 11-19
While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine--where are they? Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?" And He said to him, "Stand up and go; our faith has made you well."
Talk about a story of thankfulness. Jesus gave these ten people compassion and only one appreciated it. He knew that it would happen this way, and still he gave all ten of them a healing and cleansing. The interesting thing about this story is that the one who thanked Jesus was a Samaritan. Jesus spoke a lot about these underclassed citizen. He loved them as much as he loved the Nazarenes or Galatians. But a lot of his stories dealt with those whom no one loved. So be liked the Samaritan in this story. Always thankful, no matter your situation, no matter the peer pressure.
