Today, is our son's 13th birthday. He is a handsome, fun-loving young man. He has always brought surprises to my life. Like the time he potty-trained himself. Or the time he and a friend poured oil all over my beautiful, white car. There has not been a dull moment with Timm since the day he was born.
The day he was born, was a cold, rainy Saturday. I woke up at 5:15 AM very uncomfortable. I went out to the couch and realized that what I might be feeling was contractions (I never had them with Allie). Mike came out shortly afterward and I told him that I think he should get a watch. We tested them and they were like 6 minutes apart. So Mike called the Doctor and he asked the standard questions because he wasn't my regular doctor, he was the one on call. So Mike told him that we were having contractions and that he was due today. So the doctor said, yes, come on in.
Allie and Jaci were with us, so Mike called Mom. It took Mom a minute to realize that this was "The Call", so we got dressed and she came right over. The girls slept right through it.
Mom finally got there and we left. We drove from Monroe up to Kettering. Mike took back roads because he knew "every fire and police station in between our house the hospital." I was having some major pains and told Mike tearfully, "This better not be a false alarm!" We got there around 7:00 am and they put us in a room and I immediately requested an epidural. So the guy came in and gave me the meds and I felt much better. The doctor came in, popped my water and things progressed quickly. Mom and Dad brought the girls up to see us. They all went down for lunch and at 12:30 pm, Timothy Alan came into the world at a whopping 10 pounds, 9 ounces and 21 inches long. He was beautiful and looked just like his Daddy (he still does).
The doctor told me he got bragging rights for delivering the biggest baby in the nursery. Mom got in to the elevator once, and there were two women talking about the big baby in the nursery. She told them that she was his grandma. He apparently was the talk of the floor that day. See, surprise!
He has a very special relationship with his grandparents. He is protective of his grandmother, always telling her that he is going to be the one to take care of her when he is older. When she had her hip surgery , he made me take him to the hospital everyday to see her. He just wanted to make sure she was okay.
The relationship with his grandfather is also special. When we told him that Dad had cancer, he took it in and within a week, started asking questions and even needed to spend a day with Dad. He wants my father to teach him to drive (HELP US!), and they are all the best of friends. Dad teaches him all the "bad" things that I have to correct in both of them and then go to a separate room and giggle about it. Don't you just hate that?
Everyone seems to really love Timm at church. He tries to help out when he can, he loves to give certain people a hard time and talk football with others. He is growing in the Lord and though he gets on my last nerve some times, he's my son and he and I will always have this special relationship and I thank the Lord everyday for him.
This verse in Philemon 1: 4-7 reminds me of Timm.
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

Happy Birthday, Christian!
Yesterday, was my birthday. It is a big deal, well at least to me it is. I love my birthday. I don't care how old I am, I like the fact that for one day, I can feel a little special. I am not telling you this so you will all email me and call me with belated wishes. I am telling you this so you can be prepared for next year. LOL, I am just kidding.
Yesterday, I took two cakes in for the guys and gals at work. There were at least 40 to 50 pieces cut up. By noon, all put one piece was gone, and this was shortly there after. They seemed to like it, but I have found with this group, they like just about anything you put in the kitchen. They all were happy for the snack and gave me a thumbs up. I am glad they liked it so much. I am happy when I can bake something to make others happy. I don't do that often enough. For lunch, I spent it alone. That was okay. Other things were happening and it was fine. I read and relaxed. For supper, I met Mike and the kids at a place in Mason for a quick supper before church. It was good. There was good food and I actually got presents! It was nice that the kids and hubby did that for me. I liked my card the most. It said, Yeah, ....you do make the world brighter, or something like that. It was nice to see. All of them signed it and I will keep it for a long time. Then at church, my dad sang his standard song to me. This is what he sings to all his girls. The Old, Gray Mare. We started this when my mother was in her 30s. He thinks it's funny. Honestly, it doesn't bother me and I am glad to be around to amuse Dad. Then after choir practice, the choir sang to me. At least I got some beautiful singing yesterday!
It was not a huge celebration by any means, but it means a lot to me. Just like April 26 means a lot to me. I was reminded of this day by one of our Elders on Sunday. Sunday was his birthday and he mentioned the day he got saved was a more important day. I totally agree. April 26 was very cold and the heater in the baptismal was not working. Dad said we could float ice cubes in the water. But I don't remember the temperature. I remember that April 26 was the day I followed Christ in to the watery grave, to accept the give of eternal life, have my sins forgiven, and become one of God's children. I obeyed the calling. I also (usually silently) remember the day my husband became a Christian (December 19, 2000) and Allie and Timm joined us (July 30th and July 3rd). Though I don't congratulate them, I do fondly remember these days as very important days to our family. Do you remember your Christian birthday?
Acts 2:38 - 41
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

It's Your Birthday
Today is your birthday! Happy Birthday to you! Today is my mother's birthday. It has been a very hard 2009. She has valiantly taken care of my dad during his cancer fight and treatment. I know she felt at a loss, and if it wasn't for a lot of you, her good friends, she would have just sat down everyday and cried. She still is taking care of him. But today, she deserve all the recognition that she probably doesn't want.
My mom is a very giving person. She wants to make sure that everyone around her is doing okay and that if she can help them, she will. She wants her kids and grandkids to do the right thing and be the best Christians they can. She loves her husband with a passion.
I heard a song this morning about a girl who, growing up had a mom who do all the things to help the girl have some of the best days. I have had that with my mom. Mom and I got to share an evening of listening to Ivan sing during this past summer. We spend time together freezing corn. Those are very special times for me. She gave up a lot for my sister and me. I hope that someday my children will know how much she loves them.
Mom can not be described by words. She is the best of a lot of characteristics and those who know her love her. So today, send her an email and tell her Happy Birthday!

Another Birthday!
Well, tomorrow is my Dad's birthday. He will be 67. It's a relief to say that. This as you know has been the hardest year I have ever seen him go through. There have been some hard years. Like when his Dad died. He went into such a funk for a long time over that. But who wouldn't?
This year has also seen some wonderful times. I know that's hard to believe but I try to see the good in almost everything. This year our church really has pulled together and made it easy for us to love them and feel loved. It has brought Dad and Mom some faithful and caring friends that proved themselves. I believe it brought my family closer too in many ways.
Dad, Allie and I got to go to Washington D.C. for a trip we will never forget. We just found out about his cancer and had not really coped with it and he had not started his treatments. We didn't even know what the rest of the year would bring, but we definitely made the most of that trip. Even though Dad and I didn't really talk about anything in particular or get too serious, it was a trip we had always wanted to take. Now he is talking about going back when Timm goes. Wouldn't that be great? Timm, Mike and Dad in D.C.. Timm is looking forward to that.
All my life, I have been Daddy's little girl. In fact, one of our exchange students said that we were "Xerox copies". We are so much alike in so many ways. My attitude is like his, my outlook on people and life are like his, and my sense of humor is like his. I am proud to be his daughter.
He has shown me what a father should be like and that has helped me all my life imagine what God, as a father, is like too. I think he has made it easy for me to accept that God is my father and that he loves me, all because Dad loves me. I love him too, and hope that he has many more birthdays to come!
